KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!!!
The election of Donald Trump has terrified me. I was terrified of him winning, and now I'm terrified of what he will do as president. With a republican house and senate, it is quite frightening.
But fear has its limits. The election got us focused on turmoil both within ourselves, and turmoil out in the country and world. As much as I would like to simplify the election of Trump as a singular disaster, it is actually the manifestation of a multitude of disasters...many, many illnesses in our world and within ourselves. Electing Trump didn't create these disasters, it just revealed them. The horror is that, once the biopsy was done, it was revealed that the disease had spread much further than we dared think, and our communal soul is at much greater risk of dying than ever before.
Folks say that Hillary didn't have the right message to win. That's crap. If the country was mature enough or loving enough to hear it, then she would be president-elect. And, small (but real) comfort, she got more votes. We gave the country a test. We failed. I'm not going to blame the teacher for the country's failure.
And I won't give the failure of the country any more fuel by hating the bigots, misogynists, bullies, or the people who didn't care enough to vote. I hate all those things, but not the people who have been misled by evil. I will speak and be more involved. I will recognize that, if there's this much rot in the country, then it would have come out, sooner or later. The only question is, what do we do with it, once we see it. Follow my blog, and let's work on solutions.
